Chocolate Chip Scones Makes 6 scones |

Method: Preheat oven to 400 F. Butter and flour a baking sheet. Preheat oven to 400 F. Sift flour, sugar, b powder, b soda and salt into a L bowl. Add butter and lemon peel. Rub with fingers until butter is the size rice. Mix in chocolate chips. Whisk buttermilk, egg yolk and vanilla in a small bowl. Add buttermilk mixture to dry ingredients and stir to form rough mixture. Gather into a ball, press into an 8" round, cut into 6 wedges. Transfer to baking sheet, spaced 1" apart. Brush with milk, sprinkle remaining 2T sugar. Bake until crunchy and tester comes out clean, ~ 20 min. |
