Stanley G. Weinbaum at UW Madison

Stanley Weinbaum, author of A Martian Odyssey and other pioneering science fiction stories in the 1930's, was recommended for admission to the College of Chemistry at UW--Madison on 23 July 1920. The occupation of his father, Nathan A. Weinbaum, is listed as "Ag't, Fox Films". He had attended Riverside High School in Milwaukee. There he studied English, Math, and Latin for four years, and Science for three, always attaining marks of 92 or higher (70 was passing; his lowest score was physical training--83). His Math subjects were algebra, plane and solid geometry, advanced algebra, and trigonometry. His Latin subjects were grammar and composition; Caesar: books; Cicero: orations; and Virgil: books.
