Hi Steve
I enjoyed your 66 Chrysler site.  I have owned 3 66's myself.  I used to own a town and country wagon and I now own 2 NY 4-dr hardtops.  they are great cars.  One of the most beautiful ever built.
I see you are lookng for some parts and I have some of them.
I also have the dealer showrom book showing all the color chips and Newport color sweep (2 tone) availability combinations.  Looks like your car might be Spanish Red?
I have the following parts:
- Complete black dash w/auto pilot, rear heat, a/c, and headlight sentinal switches
- 4 nice black NY interior door panels
- black floor shift column and instr cluster
- rear seat heater unit w/complete harness
- power lock setup for all doors including uncut harness
- power vent window setup complte w/harness
- auto dim headlight stystem w/switch and dash mounted eye
- black interior door armests
- auto pilot system
---- other parts upon request

thanks,
Chris

Steve-
I checked ruby red in my paint chips.  It is a nicer color than spanish and I have not seen another 66 that color.
I sold my T&C (royal turquoise w/black buckets and color sweep) in 1992 due to excessive body rust (it hasd 207,000 miles on orig engine but ran great)
I have since tried to buy it back 3 times but it has changed hands 3 times and I have lost track of it.
There is another 66 TC that appeared about 2 years ago in my area (white w/red color sweep) in the next town over from me.  It is real solid but going downhill as they drive it every day even durning the winter. I live in Maine so our "rust belt" is as bad a yours.  They probably bought it for nothing.

My dealers book is probably simlar to yours it is 11x14 and has a blue vinyl padded cover w/Chrysler stamped on it in gold.

I don't have the 2 tone moldings as I have NY'ers only at this point.  I do have 2 rock solid front doors to fit sedans or wagons though.

My "good" NY has a factory 6 way power bench seat.  I am removing it to put in buckets I got form my Parts Car.  The trim for the power bucket differs from the manual bucket so I assume th bench trim differs also.  I can take a pic if you want.  The seats I got are power driver and manual pass buckets.  I am taking the bench out as the upholstrey is shot and the seat is broken down and i figured for the cost I would put in the more comfortable buckets like I had in my old wagon that I still regret selling!!!! It was my first car. I'm pretty sure the bucket and bech brackets are interchangable.
Attached are pics of my cars.

Chris,

Wow! It is so nice to see someone else who is just as craze in love with the same cars or at lest just craze like me. It even sounds like you may have more parts then I do and that would be something else. The parts list that you saw is a very old list and I have acquired most everything on that list at this time. I've been so busy with other things that it doesn't look like I will have much time to update my site until this summer. Whatever happen to your T&C? I have never seen one in all my years of searching. It would be something else to get the chance to drive one some day, if not own one.

As for my car, I too for many years thought that it was Spanish Red but it is accrual code#7 which is Ruby Red Metallic. Which seams to be rare to find and is unusual to find it on a Newport. I even tracked down the original paint formula this last year. I would love to take a look at your dealer showroom book to see how it differs from my books. I have a dealers Data Book(5x7) and an upholstery/paint color book(12x17) however, there isn't much information on the two-tone option or the vinyl top option.

As for parts; I am currently looking for the chrome trim pieces for the two-tone option and for the vinyl top option. I am also looking for the clamp/braces that hold up the 2 heater conduits for the rear set heater. I also need help in figuring out how the install the 6-way control unit for the power bench set unit on a Newport or NY. I belive that I need different set chrome side for the power set control. If that makes any since to you. I would be interested in your complete black dash, because I will have to mill out the wholes for these accessories in my dash.

Thanks for writing and please stay in touch.
PS. Where are you? I'm outside Madison,WI towards the South.
Steve

================================================

Chris,
Very nice pics, I would love to see some photos of how the 6-way controller is mounted to the seat. After you replace the bench set, What are your plans for all the part of the 6 way power bench seat system? Would you be willing to sell them?

Sorry to here about your TC, if you find one for sale, please let me know, even throw I know that I can't afford it or store it. Yes, the dealers book sounds similar now.

Keep that NYer running a perhaps we can meet at Carlisle, PA someday.

"I'm pretty sure the bucket and beach brackets are interchangeable."
Well sort of, You will need to drill 4 more wholes in the floor. Plus the center arm rest mount will have to be installed, if you wont the are rest. Otherwise there will be a space between the two buckets.
But this all can be done with little effort, I could do it in a day or two.

Hi, I saw your website about the 66 chryslers. I have a 66 newport hardtop sedan with the 383 2bbl carb. that I'm trying to restore, your website is pretty handy. If you have any pointers about the car I'd love to hear them, mine's a totatl wreck for the time being and almost everything will need to be replaced in it.
~~Shannyn

Shannyn,
Thanks for the email. I'm glad that my site is helpful. How is the download speed? I've been trying to speed it up for 96kB-users. I also hope to get some time to work on the site and add more stuff. But it doesn't look likely I'll have much time before March to do real work on it. If I do have the time it is  used working on the car and not the website.

As for advice or pointers, just ask away. However as for your Newport, I would have to see it to see if it is worth rebuilding a total wreck. I may be worth more to you for parts towards another 66 that has a better body. You state that yours is a "hardtop sedan"? The 4-door Sedan was the more popular, however they did make 4-door hardtop too. If it's a 2-door then this is irrelevant.

I have been offered a 1966 Chrysler Newport Convertible. What should be the price of this car that is in good shape and running. I would appreciate your help with this. Thanks, Henry
Please reply to XXXXXXX@aol.com

Henry,
This site seems to be in line with what I belive are far market values.
http://www.vmrintl.com/cctm/coll_frame.htm

For a 66 Newport Convertible they list a value of
  2dr Convertible  #5: $775,  #4: $2300,  #3: $4325, #2: $6825, #1: $9075

It really depends on it condition and accessories it has. History of the car can also add to its value. For an example, A car with a sold, non rusted frame, and body with a low mileage and original interior and paint may be a #3 or #2 depending on its Accessories and History.

From what you described in your email I could put it at around a #4.75 to a #4. If the rear quarters are bad or rear rails are bad then I wouldn't pay more the 2k for it. If the rear end is sound with low rust, then check the front inner wheel wells for rust. Then I would say it may be closer to a #4. If the Interior and top are vary good and aren't damaged, especially the top, and the top works then I could see it being close to a #3.5.

One other thing, you will never find a #1 car(unrestored) and this price scale doesn't work all that well if the car is total restored.

I hope this helps.
Steve

Hello,

Came across your site while searching for information regarding the name and
model number of the standard 4-barrel carb that was used on the Chrysler
383.  I note you have one on your 300.  I am thinking of replacing my
2-barrel on my '66 Dodge 383 with a 4-barrel (want a little more punch).  Do
you know the model number of this carb and any other information?  I assume
it is a Carter.  Do you know which Edelbrock or Holley carbs could
substitute for the 4-barrel Carter on a 383?

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

i've just seen your great Home Page and immediately decided to write you an

and i hope you can understand my mail. It is always very difficult  for me to
write in english because i have to use a dictionary all the time.
Well, i'll try my best. I envy you much around your cars, your workshop and your knowledge about the restoration of the cars. As i saw your list of hobbies i realized that we have some of them in common.
My hobbies and interests are:

us-cars,

model airplanes and helicopters,
online auctions,
"aqariums" with lizards,
computers ( that's my job )

I'm sorry about yor grandfather.
I think you are doing a great job by restoring his old chrysler newport.
Since a couple of month i was searching for informations about the 1966
Chrysler New Yorker. You have to know that tis car is the car of my dreams.
As i saw the pdf-files on your page i was downloading and printing all of your
files.
Now I returned straight of a us automeeting in Germany, in which I could start
one of thes 1966 New Yorkers  for the first time.   :D
I really want to import one 1966 Chrysler to Germany someday.
You have to know that it is almost impossible to find a car like this in
germany.  I have seen a 1966 New Yorker at ebay.com yesterday and could not
beleve that the auction ended with
300 $ and no bids. It was the auction : 1850321758
Approximately one moth ago they sold a 1966 Newport in at least the same
condition for 5500 $.
Well Steve now I'm tired of writing.
Maybe i gonna hear from you.
Have a nice weekend !

best wishes from Germany,

Rene,

I am very glad that you enjoyed my web site and thank you for your email. I do enjoy getting emails like yours. Don't concern your self about your English, Because it is quite good.  I on the other hand, can't spell worth shit and must look up words in the dictionary all the time.

I just wonted to send you quick email, Classes will be starting up on Tuesday and I've been running around trying to get everything ready to go. I figured that I better send you email know before I really do forget. I will try to stay in touch, however  the next two weeks are going to be hard.

Best of luck and I'm glad there are other people the love these old land yachts too.

thanks!  see, i am having movers come and move my household goods and car (in the same truck).  they weigh the truck before and after they load up, then subtract the weight of the car, to determine the weight of my goods...and charge me accordingly.  it turns out the driver is going to guess the car's weight!

i saw somewhere that a 1962 Chrysler 300 convertible weighed about 4100 lbs with the 383, so you're probably right in your guess.  But I want to make sure the weight isn't underestimated by the driver--every 100 lbs he's off by would cost me $55!

anyway, thanks again for any data you can turn up to pinpoint this. looking forward to hearing back.

Yes sure do. Give be a day or to two dig it up. This may all ready be somewhere in my web site, However I don't know where.

a ballpark value would be 3500lbs +/- 500lbs

Sorry no AOL here. I've never took the time to learn how to work the any chat room. I'll have to add it to the list of things to do some day. I prefer to email because I am a horrible speller and to slow for a live chat room.

yep! sounds like a '66. Give them a full tune-up add new gas and a new battery they will start right up after 4,6 even 8 years of with out being turned over.

That list you found is a very old one. I'm not sure as to what's even on it.
I do belive that I have collected all the big stuff. I'm now looking for the little things like, the rear floor gasket for the rear seat heater-defogger conduits. Front bench seat trim covers for a 6-way power control (Newport/NY). The chrome terminators for the Newport two-tone option located: (The Vinyl top chrome terminators, upper front window pillars, and both rear chrome end pieces located on the rear quarters panels at the start of the paint sweep arrow.)

Until next time Chow!

Steve

Hello, Here is a html page that I have started. It will be added to my site when I fine the rest of the data that I wish to display. Hope it helps.

Just to clarify, I am not looking for the power seat unit. Just the Aluminum side covers for the bench seat that is for the power seat control unit. The drivers side will have a molded half circle instead of a slot.

I'm also liking for the front bumper guard. I do have some, but I am looking for better ones.

It would be fine if you would help us with information.
You see the love for old Chrysler/Mopar is worldwide. He bought the car in

Subject: Your 1966 Chrysler website

Hi Steve,

I happened upon your website last night while searching for pictures of 1966 Chryslers.  Your cars are great!  I really like the 300, but it's great to see the dedication that you're putting into your Newport "family heirloom".

I'm in a very similar situation.  My dad still has the '66 Windsor 4-door post sedan that my Grandad ordered new.  My brother and I both put a lot of time into the bodywork, so much of it is ready for filler and paint.  I love these cars so much that two years ago I bought my own, a Windsor 2-door hardtop.  I have some pics of both cars at:  http://www3.sympatico.ca/mikek/

Good luck finding replacement rear quarters for your car.  :(  My bro got really good at beating-out sheet metal, and made new ones.  if your front subframe is rotten, I saw recently in a Mopar mag that someone manufactures pre-formed heavy-gauge patches to weld over top.

BTW, regarding item #8 on the list of things you're looking for are "plastic fillers" for the sides of the rear seat.  These were not specific to the 300, but were found in any car with the bucket seats in the front.  The rear bench seat is specific to this option as well.  These filler pieces are probably the same as those in the 2-door with bucket seats.  I am looking for a set also.  :)

I hope you are able to recover the lost stuff off your website.  I would really like to see the latest pics of your project.

Cheers,
    Mike
PS: Have you checked out the "C-Body Dry Dock"?  It is the nest message board I have found for Mopar C-Body enthusiasts.  Just do a web search for "dry dock land yachts" and you'll find it.  :)

Mike,
Thanks for your comments. I love getting email like yours. I'm plaining to rework my web side the end of the month and get it all up dated. I've been working on it slowing for a while now. Just have to up load the new files.

As for the replacement rear quarters, I already have them. Just have to get time to work in her.

Please stay in touch.

Hello,

when i was about 18 years old i went to buy my first car.  I only had about a grand to spent and i have always loved older cars.  So guess what my first car was a 1966 4 door Chrysler Newport.  All my friends said i was dumb to buy a old car and the friends i had that did like old cars said that if i was going to buy an old car i should buy a two door.  I love the 4 door this car was great.  My Newport had the biggest trunk i ever seen in a car and being young boy was it ever great having all that extra room inside the car when i went crusing with the ladies.  i took me about a year to save up some money to fix the car up but when i had the money i got the little rust off and painted candy apple red put some white walls on it and gold spinners to match the small gold crowns on the side of the car.  After a few fix up's it did not matter what i look like when i showed up at the beach women were on me bear on honey.

I was just surfing the net and found this site and wanted to share my car story thanks for reading it.

P.s.  I no longer have the car, one of my bothers was pulled over by the cops and him and his friend had some weed on them and my car was taked away and i did not have the money to get it back,  but let me tell i will some day again have a 1966 Newport.  I am 35 years old now and have three kids my oldest only 6years old and my goal is to get one some day and fix it up for my son so he has a cool car for the first day of high school.

Thanks one more time

Glad to hear it. I too have gobs of parts all over, because I am currently restoring a 66 Newport. When I am done, she will have ALL factory options, Working. I drive my 66 300 as often as I can for now, because I will have to repair the frame soon, rust.

I have collected a lot  of info over the year about the 1966 line, (ie. Newport, New Yorker, 300,& T&C)

Below is my web site. Who knows, perhaps you'll like it.

As for the 300 parts that I am looking for; right at this point, the trunk lip chrome strip and of course nice Taillight lamps (Chrome). An old parts list can be found on in my web site, somewhere.

Awesome,
I have know Idea as to what you know about that 66 300 4-door Sedan. As  you know from looking at my web site is that my 66 300 4-door "the White one" is a Hardtop. I've been looking for a Sedan for about 3yrs and yours is the first one that I have hard about. Please send "Lots" of Photo my way and I will put you and your car on my web site. You probably wont want to sell it, nor would I want too if I owned it. Please don't think that I am trying to buy it from you. But if you 'ever' want to or wish to sell it please, please let me know first.

OK, time to come straight. Why am I making a fuss over this. If you don't already know the answer to that question the you should set down.

If what you are saying is that you have a 66 300 4-door Sedan. Be proud and keep it out of the wether and restore it. I would be glad to help. Because that is a rare car. You have One of ~2300 made. Please take very good care of that old girl.

All 2300+ made were exported to Canada, thus you living in kitchener ontario makes since.

Best of luck and keep that car running and look great.

Steve,

New Hamburg PA, I assume. I do wish I could get out there. PA Has some good car shows. Living near Madison WI makes it a bit difficult. Someday I'll have to try to get over there.

C-ya.
